   A Guide For Using Essential oils for different skin types

Oils are a hallmark of Ayurveda and can be used by all skin types to balance the body's own oil production-yes, even people with acne, and overproduction, could benefit from a facial oil. Sesame for Vata skin, Coconut for Pitta skin, and Sunflower for Kapha skin.  Face oil is can actually treat your skin issues, while giving you the flawless skin of your dreams.

How to apply oils?

People should not apply essential oils to the skin without diluting them in a carrier oil. Common carrier oils include:

1. Olive oil
2. Grape seed oil
3. Almond oil
4. Coconut oil
5. Avocado oil

Before using, mix essential oil and carrier oil well. For use on the face, the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy recommend the following:

For sensitive skin: 3–6 drops of essential oil per ounce of carrier oil.

For normal skin: 6–15 drops of essential oil per ounce of carrier oil.

Precaution: A person should test a small amount on a patch of skin 24 hours before using the oil on larger areas. If any irritation occurs after 24 hours, they may be allergic to the oil and should not use it. Patch test is the test for confirming an allergy to substance before its use.

1. Oily Skin

Oil act as an astringent to rid your face of excess grease, and will also help to stabilize and regulate your skin’s oil production results in making you less oily overall.

When using a moisturiser for oily skin, it’s generally lightweight and oil-free so you want these ingredients to absorb into the skin first to avoid any potential blocking or clogging of the pores. Then, you can add a protective layer of oil over your moisturiser to prevent water loss. Prefer using below mention oils:

1. Jojoba Oil: It is lightweight & breathe able maintaining moisture of the skin intact and dissolves sebum.

2. Grape Seed Oil: Excess oily skin will love this oil as it is bit dry than jojoba oil. 

2. Dry Skin

For people with dry skin using oil high in oleic acid helps in reducing dryness and maintain moisture of the skin.

Application: "Mix 3-5 drops directly in with your nighttime moisturizer, and apply to both the face and neck.

1. Almond Oil: Highly hydrating & hypo allergic so anyone with extreme dry skin can prefer using this oil &additionally reach in vitamin A.

2. Marula Oil: With its high fatty acids content it absorbs easily in your skin & rich enough to moisturise and calm your skin. 

3. Acne-Prone Skin

Blackheads & Pimples pop out when your skin produce more sebum in its dry & in an inflamed condition.

1. Pomegranate Oil: Excellent antibacterial & anti-inflammatory properties clears out zit causing bacteria in your skin as well as it gives calming effect to inflamed skin.

2. Roseship Oil: This oil hydrates skin & fade acne scars & inflammation due to its richness in fatty acids.

4. Normal Skin

Try mixing in 2-3 drops into your nighttime moisturiser.

1. Argan Oil:  Its richness in Vitamin-A it prevents skin damage & dark spots .

2. Retinols Oils: Gentle retinol oil will brighten your tone, clears your breakouts & keep skin more hydrating.

Tip: Always use retinols with moisturizer as it has drying properties.

5. Sensitive Skin

Be careful while using any essential oil do not forget to perform patch test to make sure that it does not results into any allergic reactions.

1. Moringa Oil: All skin caring properties are present so it can soothe inflamed skin & repair dry skin.

2. Aloe Vera Oil: Perfect choice for sensitive dry and acne prone skin as it has a natural antibacterial & astringent properties.

Lastly, remember to use safe practices when using essential oils, which means diluting them with a carrier soil and ensuring your oil comes from a reputable source which can result in your desired outcome.
