AN ALTERNATIVE TOOL: GLYCEMIC LOAD

It is the formula which gives actual value of GI when actual serving is multiplied by GI value of that food and that value is divided by 100.For example, if 2 carrots are consumed then GL=2*2/100=0.04. As a frame of reference, a GL higher than 20 is considered high, between 11 and 19 is considered moderate, and 10 or less is considered low.

Uses
1.Weight management: Low GI food is surely rich in fibres and other nutrients and definitely have low carbs so low carbs are good for weight management.

2. Diabetes management: High GI foods are releasing more glucose in the blood when consumed so it not advisable for diabetic patients to have high GI foods in their diet.
Having high blood sugar levels can lead to other heart related diseases and make the person more prone to an infection.
